Embracing Your Hidden Wings: Finding Joy in Your Everyday Efforts

Ever had one of those days where you feel like you’re giving everything you’ve got but struggle to see the impact of your efforts? It’s like you’re running on empty, and despite all the love and energy you pour into your family, you can’t quite see the results. I know I struggle with giving myself credit for ALL the things I do. If this sounds familiar to you too, remember this: just like a butterfly can’t see its own wings, sometimes we don’t fully recognize the beauty and significance of our own hard work and love.

In the whirlwind of daily life, it’s easy to overlook the incredible things you do for your family. The moments of patience when you're juggling a thousand tasks, the bursts of creativity that bring joy to your home, and the endless support you provide—these are your wings. They may not always be visible to you (or others), but they’re there, making a beautiful difference every single day.

The Unseen Impact of Your Efforts

As a mom, you wear many hats. From organizing school schedules to cooking meals, from comforting during tough times to celebrating achievements, you’re constantly working behind the scenes. Your daily tasks, though sometimes mundane, create a supportive and loving environment for your family. It’s these small, consistent actions that often go unnoticed, but they form the foundation of a happy and thriving home.

Celebrating Your Small Victories

In the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to forget to acknowledge your own successes. Did you manage to get everyone out the door on time this morning? That’s a victory worth celebrating. Did you find a creative way to make a nutritious meal that your kids loved? That’s a win. Did you provide a listening ear when someone needed it most? That’s a huge accomplishment.

Maybe you "failed" in the examples I listed above (I know I have), so take a moment today to reflect on your victories. Sometimes, just getting out of bed in the morning is a win. They may seem small in isolation, but collectively, they’re shaping the lives of those you love. Just like the butterfly’s wings are essential for its flight, your efforts are crucial for the happiness and well-being of your family.

Embrace Your Inner Butterfly

So, what can you do to recognize and appreciate your own “wings”? Start by giving yourself credit for the things you do well. Keep a journal of your achievements, no matter how small. Reflect on the positive impact you’re making. And most importantly, be kind to yourself. I've started writing down my intentions (to-dos) for the day. Some days, I look at the list to see what's next; other days, I look at the list the next day and transfer ever single thing over, but it helps keep my most important tasks at the front of my mind.

You’re not alone in feeling this way. Many moms experience the same doubts and struggles, but remember: your love, dedication, and hard work are making a difference. You might not always see it, but you’re creating a beautiful life for your family, just as a butterfly spreads its wings without ever seeing their own splendor.

Today, take a deep breath and appreciate your incredible efforts. Celebrate your small victories and know that you’re making a beautiful difference every single day.
